Conference
Gaza City, Jan. 15, 2017(dpa/NAN) The international community cannot drag its feet on following up on the outcomes of the peace conference in Paris, the Palestinian Foreign Affairs Ministry has warned in a statement Sunday.
“A large international coalition or front has to be immediately formed to back the outcomes of the international peace conference in Paris and work on implementing it,” it said in a statement.
However, the Islamic Hamas movement casts aside the conference as just another in a line of unsuccessful peace talks, instead calling for the Palestinian government to join it in confronting Israel.
“The Israeli occupation has never shown any commitment to respect or implement the outcomes of these conferences or the signed agreements,” says spokesman Abdulatif al-Qanoo’a in a statement.
Foreign ministers from around 70 nations had gathered in Paris Sunday in an attempt to urge Israeli and Palestinian leaders to recommit to the so-called two-state solution.
Representatives from the United Nations, European Union, Arab League and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation were also in attendance to revitalise support for a two-state solution. .
However, neither Israel nor the Palestinians had any representation at the conference.(dpa/NAN)
