Businessman docked for alleged dangerous driving

Abuja, Jan.13, 2016(NAN) A 32-year-old businessman, Adamu Bello, was on Friday arraigned in a Gudu Upper Area Court in the FCT for alleged  dangerous driving.

Bello, of Uyo Close, Area 11 Garki is standing trial on a one-count charge of dangerous driving.

The defendant, however, denied the charge leveled against him.

The judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N800, 000.

Kagarko added that the defendant must produce a reliable surety who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned hearing till Feb.24.

The prosecutor, Mr Joshua Ayanna, told the court that one Mr Ismael Ogele of No. 3 Kano St., Area 1, reported the matter at Garki Police Station on Nov.11, 2016.

The complainant alleged that on the same date, the defendant drove dangerously, a Honda Accord vehicle with reg. no. WRA 285 AA on Emeka Street toward Area 11.

“While on motion without due care or attention, he lost control and hit a Hyundai Sonata with reg. no. ABC 485 HG belonging to the complainant,’’ Ayanna said.

Ayanna who put the cost of repairs at N777, 105, said the offence was contrary to provisions of Section 28 of the Road Traffic Act. (NAN)
