Tailor

Abuja, Jan.13, 2017 (NAN) A 42-year-old tailor, Gabriel Idoko, on Friday appeared in a Gudu Upper Area Court in the FCT for allegedl theft of tailoring materials and other items.
Idoko of Masaka by Royal College, Nassarawa State, is standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and theft.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Upper Area Court judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N20,000 with a reliable surety in like sum.
He said the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court, and adjourned the case till Feb. 27.
Prosecutor Jushua Ayanna told the court that one Ochoga of Bemie Crescent, Suncity Estate, Abuja, reported the matter at Wuye Divisional Headquarters on Jan.5
Ayanna said that the complainant alleged that she employed the defendant as a staff tailor in her tailoring shop at Games village and entrusted him with the shop keys.
“The keys were entrusted to him with the hope that he will be working on weekends,’’ he said.
He said that the defendant started stealing from the shop after being entrusted with the keys.
“He stole 48 yards of raw silk valued, N24,000; 16 yards of lining, N3,000; liquid soap N6,000; and workmanship, N5,000.
Ayanna said that during police investigations, some of the stolen items were recovered from him.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 312 and 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
