Nasarawa State Govt, Army to strengthen ties on education sector

Lafia, Jan 12, 2017 (NAN) Mr Silas Aliyu-Agara, Deputy Gov. of Nasarawa State, says the state government will strengthen its relation with the Nigerian Army to revive the education sector.

The deputy governor stated this while hosting a delegation of the Army Committee on the Implementation of the Command Secondary Schools in the state in Lafia on Thursday.

Aliyu-Agara, who received the committee on behalf of Gov. Al-makura, said government was committed to its partnership with the army in the area of security and sound military education in the state.

The deputy governor commended the army for approving the first Command Science Secondary School in Lafia, in the southern senatorial zone of the state.

He explained that the two additional conventional command secondary schools to be sited in Rinze  and Agwada, representing the North and West senatorial zones of the state, would add value to the educational standard of the state.

Aliyu-Agara said the state would be blessed with three military schools, one in each of its three senatorial districts.

According to him, “The state government will give the project the needed attention to ensure smooth take-off.”

He assured the army of early completion of the road linking the school in Rinza, Akwanga Local Government Area.

He also congratulated the army on its gallantry in defeating the dreaded Boko Haram from Sambisa forest in Borno.

The deputy governor,however, pledged the government’s commitment to sustain its civil, military relations for the maintenance of peace in the state.

Earlier, Leader of the team, Brig.-Gen. Lawal Abdullahi, explained that the delegation was in the state to access the site and structures donated for the smooth take-off of the school.

According to him, “the approval for the two schools was given following the request by the state government and commended the governor for his pursuit of the project”.

Abdullahi assured that the command would continue to maintain high standards.
