Abuja, Jan. 12, 2017 (NAN) A Grade 1 Area Court, Karmo, Abuja, on Thursday admitted a 27-year-old security man, Ibrahim Jibrin, to bail in the sum of N100, 000 for alleged housebreaking and theft.
The Presiding Officer, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, ordered the defendant to produce a surety in the like sum.
Sadiq said that the surety must be a grade level five officer in the Federal Civil Service, and adjourned the case till Jan. 31 for hearing.
The defendant, who resides at Daki Biyu Village, Abuja, was arraigned on a two-count charge of housebreaking and theft.
Prosecutor Florence Auhioboh told the court that Ahmed Gambo of same address with the defendant reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station, Abuja, on Jan. 6.
Auhioboh said the defendant was the security attached to the complainant’s compound and was instructed not to allow anyone into his apartment because he was moving out but had still valuables left.
The prosecutor said the complainant got home and discovered that his Samsung plasma TV valued N70, 000, wrist watch, N120, 000; his cloths N320, 000; and foodstuff valued N10, 000 were missing.
During police investigation one of the complainant iron chair and a pillow was recovered in the defendants room.
Auhioboh said that the offence contravened sections 346 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. (NAN)
