Al-Makura urges traditional rulers to promote peace, unity

Lafia, Jan. 11, 2017 (NAN) Gov. Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa has urged traditional rulers to propagate peaceful coexistence in their domain to ensure speedy development of state and country.
The governor made the call when the Osana of Keana, Alhaji Abdullahi Amegwa-Agbo 111, paid him a courtesy visit in Lafia on Wednesday.
He said that without peace and tolerance, Nigeria’s socio-economic development would continue to suffer set back.
Al-Makura commended traditional rulers for maintaining peace and tranquillity and urged them to offer useful advice to the government on way forward.

He said government was aware of contributions of traditional rulers to nation building, asking them to always accord priority to customs and tradition of the people to avoid extinction.

The governor also affirmed that the state government would continue to support traditional institutions and urged the Osana to work closely with his subjects.

Earlier, Amegwa-Agbo 111, expressed appreciation to the governor for the selection process which returned him as the Osana of Keana.
He renewed his call on the state government to complete the Keana township road, Keana-Giza road and to as well address the farmers, herdsmen clashes among other demands. (NAN)
