Man, 20, in court over alleged theft of laptop valued N40,000

Lagos, Jan. 11, 2017 (NAN) A 20-year-old man, John Oloko, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a laptop valued N40, 000.

The accused, who lives in Abule Egba area of Lagos, is facing a count charge of stealing.

The Prosecutor, Ishola Samuel, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Dec. 19 at Pavilion Hotel, Ikeja.

He said the accused stole the laptop of one Jeremiah Agri.

Samuel said the complainant left his laptop charging at the reception of the hotel where he works and went out while the accused was there.

“On Agri’s return, he discovered that his laptop, valued N40, 000 had been stolen.

“The complainant made some enquiries and his colleague Abigail Nane confirmed seeing Oloko unplug the laptop and went away with it,” Samuel said.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs A. R. Onilogbo, granted the accused N20, 000 bail with one surety in like sum.

Onilogbo ordered that the surety must produce evidence of two years tax payment to Lagos State government and adjourned the case till Feb. 6 for mention. (NAN)
