Emirate Council in Jigawa distributes N2.5m grains as Zakkat to 940 indigents

Dutse, Jan. 8, 2017 (NAN) The Kazaure Emirate Council in Jigawa has distributed grains worth N2.5 million as Zakkat to 940 less privileged people in the area.

The emirate’s  spokesman, Malam Gambo Garba, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday that the items were distributed to deserving families in Achilafiya district.

Garba said that the the grains were distributed by the Makama of Kazaure, Alhaji Ummaru Adamu, on behalf of Emir of Kazaure, Alhaji Najib Hussaini.

He said that emir urged wealthy individuals to always support the vulnerable and the less privileged in the society to reduce poverty in the area.

The spokesman also said the emir reminded the people that “giving Zakkat is one of the five pillars of Islam”.

According to him, the emirate council has so far distributed Zakkat in five out of the nine districts under its domain.

Garba further told NAN that gifts were also presented to districts, village and ward heads that excelled in the collection of Zakkat in their domains. (NAN)
