Commissioner tasks Tiv people, Nigerians on peaceful co-existence

Obi(Nasarawa State) Jan.6,2017(NAN) Nasarawa State Commissioner of Environment, Gabriel Aka’aka, has urged Tiv people and Nigerians to continue to live in peace with their neighbours in the interest and stability of the country.
Aka’aka made the call on Friday while addressing the Tiv community during the community New Year celebration in Obi Local Government Area of the state.
He said that peace was necessary for the development of any nation, hence the need for Nigerians to tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation.
The commissioner also urged Tiv people and the entire people of the state to give maximum support to President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Tanko Al-Makura’s administration.
“As a politician and a stakeholder, our role is to preach peace, unity and to advise Nigerians to continue to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation for the benefit of all.
“No nation or society can develop in an atmosphere of rancour and confusion, the security challenges facing some parts of the country had affected our lives and socio-economic development of the country negatively.
“It is in view of this, I want to appeal to you and Nigerians to live in peace, unity and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation for the overall development of the country,” he said
Aka’aka has also called on Nigerians to go back to farmers considering the importance of farming to the socio-economic development of the country. President of Tiv Development Association in Nasarawa State, Moses Utondu, said the New Year celebration was also organised to preach peace to the people.
Utondu called on the Tiv people and the people of the state to continue to support Gov.Al-Makura administration to enable him succeed. (NAN)
