Lagos, Jan.5, 2017, (NAN) The Anti-Corruption and Research-Based Data Initiative (ARDI), an NGO, on Thursday called on Nigerians to join the Federal Government in its fight against corruption.

Mr Denis Aghanya, the Executive Secretary of ARDI, in a statement in Lagos said that everybody should make necessary sacrifices to put the country on the map of successful countries of the world.

Aghanya said corruption had always remained one of the country’s problems, adding that until the citizens shunned it, it would be difficult for them to enjoy an ideal society.

He commended the Federal Government for the success it recorded in its anti-corruption campaign in 2016.

He also called on the government to expose more corrupt persons and prosecute them to serve as a deterrent to others.

Aghanya advised public office holders to shun corrupt practices and pray for the leadership and betterment of the country in the New Year.

He said, “a country that is corrupt- free is a successful country and so all hands must be on deck to support and fight corruption’’.

Aghanya said that they would need to double their efforts in order to achieve success, saying though, 2016 was tough but God saw the citizens through it.

“We wish to commend Nigerians and the present administration for the efforts they put up in 2016.

“The year 2017 needs doubled efforts and that requires that we should make necessary sacrifices to put our country on the map of the successful countries of the world,’’ Aghanya said.

He advised the citizens to change from the culture of impunity to that of doing things rightly.(NAN)
