Ibadan, Jan. 4, 2016  (NAN) Gov.  Abiola Ajimobi of  Oyo State says his administration  will  introduce  a workers  evaluation system to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

The governor disclosed this at the 2017 Annual Inter-Religious Service organised by the Oyo State Government in Ibadan on Wednesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the inter-religious service is an annual event organised by the state government to mark the beginning of the new year.

Ajimobi said the state’s  civil service had improved tremendously and that  government had created a unit to evaluate and compensate efficiency.

“We must have a system that encourages and compensates performance. This system must also be that which sanctions non-performance.

“The Oyo State civil service was born out of the then western region civil service  which was known as the best in the country.

“We will work assiduously to restore the glory of the past civil service of  Western Nigeria to the present civil service,” he said.

The governor urged  civil servants to work in unity, love and knowledge.

He also  urged the labour unions to be proactive, creative, innovative and engage the government.

Also speaking, the state’s  Head of Service, Mr Soji Eniade,  said the restructuring exercise was to sanitise the system and make the workers function well.

He enjoined the workers to assist the governor in promoting good governance in the state.

“I charge you all in the New Year to be diligent, dedicated and devoted. We must be committed and work assiduously toward  ensuring financial sufficiency for the state,” he said.

Eniade said that it was only when the state’s  financial status was adequate and resources  prudently utilised that the its dreams  and aspirations  of a self sufficiency  could come true.

“ The present situation requires our collective participation and collaboration   instead of embarking on unproductive ventures like rumour mongering, idleness and backbiting.

“Let us be more positively charged to face the challenges of the future. The future starts now,’’ he said.

Also speaking, Imam Bello Rufai and Rev.  John Adika admonished workers to embrace hard work and faithfulness to God.

Rufai, the Chief Imam of  Government House Mosque, urged the people to shun adultery, laziness and greed, saying  these hinder  prayers from being  answered.

According to him,  God loves  hardworking, truthful and faithful  persons.

He urged the governor not to be deterred in his efforts at delivering good governance.

Adika, a cleric with  Providence Baptist Church, said the goodness of God abounded most with  hardworking and faithful persons.

He said God chose David because of his integrity and faithfulness, calling him “A man after my own heart.”

The cleric  took his teachings from Psalm 78 verses 70 to 72 and they were  read by Pastor Benjamin Akanmu, the Chairman of  Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Oyo State chapter.

NAN reports that  dignitaries  at the  event included  Chief Moses Adeyemo, the Deputy Governor, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, wife of the governor, Hon. Michael Adeyemo, the Speaker of the State Assembly,  and members of the State Executive Council . (NAN)
