Jos, Jan. 4, 2017 (NAN) The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has lauded the payment of civil servants’ and pensioners’ outstanding entitlements  by the Plateau government, saying the gesture will go a long way in alleviating their hardship and boosting economic activities.
The Director of NOA in the state, Mr Bulus Dabit, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Wednesday.

“Plateau is one of the States that have been suffering from inconsistency in payment of salaries by successive administrations we hope Gov Lalong’s gesture would be sustained.
“These payments are not just beneficial to the civil servants alone but would trickle down to the grassroots.

“Civil servants are paymaster; the economy is driven by them and the market women, the farmers, the transporters amongst others will feel this impact,” he said.
He urged political office holders to shun primordial sentiments and to remain committed to the aspirations of members of their  constituencies.
“Commitment of leaders irrespective of primordial attachment would foster peace and unity and a better 2017,’’ he said.

NAN reports that Plateau State received its own share of N10 billion from the N153 billion recently released by the Federal Government to enable 14 states to pay outstanding salaries and pensions. (NAN)
