Theft
Abuja, Dec. 30, 2016 (NAN) The police on Friday arraigned Philip Humshe in a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing his employer’s property worth N120,000.
Humshe, a security guard at Guzape, Abuja, is facing one-count charge of theft.
The prosecutor, Adama Musa, said Oluwole Sheyi of Guzape, Abuja , reported the matter at Garki Police Station on Dec. 15.
He said that on the same day, the complainant discovered that his security guard had stolen his generator valued at N65,000.
He added that the defendant, who had been working with the complainant for two years, also stole some armoured cables valued at N55,000.
Musa said that the stolen properties were kept in a room close to the security guard’s room in the complainant’s house and were all valued at N120,000.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Magistrate, Mohammed Tahir, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 and one surety in like sum.
The magistrate ordered that the surety must be living within the court’s jurisdiction
and adjourned the case until Jan. 26. (NAN)
