Kano, Dec. 29, 2016 (NAN) Patients at the Dala Orthopaedic Hospital in Kano have adopted to other options as health workers in the facility began an indefinite strike.
Some relation of the patients told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Thursday that they were frustrated with the industrial action.
Malam Garba Babale, one of the relatives, said his ailing brother who was admitted at the hospital insisted that he should be moved to a private clinic.
“My brother insisted and we reason with him that a hospital without health workers could pose serious threat to health,” Babale said.
Another in-patient, Malam Saminu Labaran, also revealed that since their relations were left to cater for them, they rather return home and seek alternative medicine.
Malam Lawan Ibrahim, whose wife was admitted, also decried the situation, saying that orthopaedic issues are not to be toyed with, so they will relocate elsewhere.
However, a source in the hospital, who pleaded anonymity, told NAN that the issue had been resolved and the strike would soon be called off.
NAN recalls that members of the Health Workers Union of the hospital embarked on the indefinite strike on Wednesday over non-payment of three months salary. (NAN)
