Kano, Dec. 29, 2016 (NAN) Two men who allegedly assaulted and intimidated a man through his phone have been arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Noman’s land, Kano.

However, the accused, Bashir Aliyu, 46, and Ibrahim Iliyasu, 32, were on Thursday granted N50,000 bail each.

Aliyu and Iliyasu, who both reside at Kofar Nasarawa Quarters in Kano, are facing a charge of criminal conspiracy, criminal intimidation, deformation of character and assault.

They pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge.

Granting the bail, Magistrate Zubair Inuwa ordered the duo to produce two reliable sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to Jan. 19 for mention.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Yakubu Galadima, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Dec. 27.

Galadima said Adamu Aliyu of the same address reported the case to Nasarawa police Division, Kano, on Dec. 27.

“The complainant said the two accused persons criminally conspired and sent him text messages to his own personal phone.

“They insulted his family and criminally threatened him,’’ he said.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened sections 97, 387,392 and 266 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
