3 arraigned for stealing N1.3m diesel

Lagos, Dec. 29, 2016 (NAN) A truck driver, Bashiru Adisa, has been charged to an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos with his motor boys for stealing N1.3 million diesel.
Th driver was charged along with Ibrahim Okanlawon and Abiodun Samuel on Thursday appeared.
Adisa, 54, a resident of Ikire in Osun, Okanlawo, 32, live at Ketu, Lagos, and Samuel, 32, who resides at Ibadan, Oyo State, are being tried for conspiracy and stealing.
According to the prosecutor, Sgt. Micheal Unah, the accused committed the offences on Sept. 24, at Ikeja, Lagos.
The accused conspired to convert N1.3 million worth of diesel belonging to Aruna Osumah to themselves.
Unah said that the accused was asked to deliver diesel product to a customer but sold the product to another and absconded with the money.
“The accused, Adisa, loaded a truck of diesel to deliver to a customer but diverted the product to another destination.
“Adisa sold the diesel to another company, abandoned the vehicle for his motor boys and bolted with the proceeds from the sales of the product.
“He has since refused to pick his calls nor show up at the office until he was arrested some months after,” he said.
The offences contravened sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 285 prescribes three years jail term for offenders.
However, the accused pleaded innocence of the offences and were granted bail each in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Gbajumo adjourned the case to Feb. 1 for mention. (NAN)
