Ibadan, Dec.26, 2016 (NAN) The popular recreation centre – Agodi Gardens and Shoprite, Ibadan, on Monday witnessed large turnout of people, who in spite of the economic recession, thronged out to celebrate the Boxing Day.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that both old and young, including babies were seen at the centres eating, drinking, dining and having fun.

NAN reports that in spite of the N500 gate fee paid at the Agodi gardens and N300 paid by children to access the playground at Shoprite, many parents still brought a number of children to celebrate.

NAN reports that the environment of the fun outlets witnessed huge traffic jam as residents trooped out en mass to visit.

NAN also reports that it was a busy day for the security operators who were on duty at the centers.

A father, Mr Saubana Fagbemi, who brought three children, told NAN that he went extra mile to ensure that the children celebrated the season.

“It is not easy for us but we have to make the children happy. We are thanking God at least for the sake of life.

“ We trust God and the government to deliver us from the economic recession,” he said.

Similarly, Mrs Chinyere Okonkwo said the family celebrated only by God’s grace.

“The economic situation affected us badly. Let the government please give us the Change promised.

“Prices of foods need to be reduced to make it easy for the poor,’’ Okonkwo said.

A graduate, Miss Tayo Adenuga, decried the economic recession and the high rate of unemployment in the country.

She urged the government to come to the aid of the citizens.

“It has not been easy as a graduate without job but I managed to come out and celebrate with others at least for the sake of life.

“ The situation is getting worse, something has to be done,” she said. (NAN)
