Christians

Ile-Ife (Osun), Dec. 24, 2016 (NAN) Pastor Samuel Afolabi, the Provost, Christ Apostolic Church Theological Seminary, Main Campus, Ile-Ife, has urged Christians to be moderate this festive period.
Afolabi gave this advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Ile-Ife.
He charged the people to thank God for the opportunity given them to witness the yuletide.
The cleric called on Christians to avoid extravagant spendings purchasing food, clothings and drinks during the festivity, putting in mind that their children and wards would soon resume school.
He reminded Christians that they were the salt of the earth; they had limited time to spend on earth and they should not be carried away by materialism.
“Christmas time is not for merriment alone; it should be a time to devote oneself to God and be restored spiritually,” he said.
According to the cleric, the end of time is fast approaching and therefore Christians should be committed to the reality of their salvation.
Afolabi said that the purpose for which God gave Christ to the world could not be over-emphasised and enjoined Christians to imbibe the virtues of love and tolerance. (NAN)
