Man, 24, docked for alleged theft of N55,000 generator

Lagos, Dec. 22, 2016 (NAN) The police on Thursday arraigned Hassan Lateef, 24, in an
Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for alleged stealing of generator valued N55,000 .

The defendant, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing one-count charge bordering on stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Eruada Victor, told the court that the offence was committed on Dec. 7 at Ogungbe Street, Dupemu, Agege in Lagos.

Victor said the defendant allegedly stole an Elepaq generator worth N55,000 from the residence of Honesty Eyo.

He added that when the defendant tried to escape with the generator, Eyo, who is
the owner and a security guard in the street saw him with it.

He said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty and the Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, granted him bail in the sum of N80,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She then adjourned the matter until Jan. 9, 2017 for mention. (NAN)
