Lagos, Dec. 21, 2016 (NAN) A 23-year-old applicant, Ndubuisi Nwajiaku, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly robbing a man of his belongings valued at N4 million.
The accused who lives in Ojota, a suburb of Lagos is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and robbery.
The prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha, told the court that the offences were committed on Sept. 22 at Okota area of Lagos.
Inuoha said that the accused and others now at large, robbed one Ifeanyi Obi of his belongings, including an Audi saloon car.
“The accused and others at large went to the residence of the complainant, robbed him of his car, different types of mobile phones and laptops.
“Other items stolen from the complainant are, gold jewelry, shoes, clothes and assorted wine, all valued at N4 million,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said that the accused was later arrested by the police when he was about robbing another man.
He said that the defendant confessed during interrogation of robbing the complainant.
The offences contravened Sections 296(2) and 297 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsanmi, granted the accused N 30,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case till March 2 for trial. (NAN)
