Empowerment
Dutse, Dec. 20, 2016 (NAN) Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa says 10,000 women and youths have benefited from various empowerment programme of his administration in the last one year.
Badaru said this during a budget presentation to the State House of Assembly in Dutse on Tuesday.
He explained that from January to December 2016, about N1.2 billion was spent on various empowerment programmes in the state.
According to him, the programmes include agriculture business skills, entrepreneurship development and fisheries.
Others are poultry production, horticulture, youth internship scheme, goat breeding and rearing programme as well as small farm implements utilisation training on rice, wheat, sesame and groundnut value chains.
The governor said the empowerment interventions were demand driven and the all beneficiaries were treated fairly.
“It was fair, balanced and open to serious minded youths who shared the vision of self-development,’’ he said.
Badaru said that his government would not relent in his efforts to empower more women and youths in 2017 to ensure job creation in the state. (NAN)
