Abuja, Dec. 19, 2016 (NAN) ActionAid says it will share information on the involvement of civil society in the Federal Government social investment programme.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the federal government recently released N65 billion for a social investment programme across selected locations in five areas to cushion economic pangs in the country.
The proposed investment would cover N-power, Home Grown Feeding (HGSF), Cash Transfers (NCTP), Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) and Stem Bursary Programme.
The Country Director of ActionAid, Mr Ojobo Atuluku, said in a statement issued in Abuja that a committee has been set and given a mandate to provide support to the programme as well as boost public awareness of its activities.
He said Nigerians would be kept informed on how the programme would be monitored by the civil society for effective delivery of the programme.
ActionAid as an anti-poverty movement, Atuluku said, also promotes values and commitment in civil society, institutions and governments.
“The intention is to achieve transformational changes in order to eradicate injustices, inequality and poverty in the society,’’ he said. (NAN)
