Abuja, Dec. 16, 2016 (NAN) The National Council for Women Society (NCWS) has commenced compilation of data on its members across the country, its President Mrs Gloria Shoda, has said.

Shoda told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja that the society was doing its best to ascertain the exact number of members in the society.

“Our society is spread all over Nigeria. We are present in the 36 states and the FCT and we have proper structures in states and in the 774 local government areas; that means we are in millions.

“We have just started our data collection which in the next six months, we will be able to tell you how many million members we have.

“In some states we have million, in some we have over five hundred and in some LGAs we have up to five hundred members.

“We have sent out forms and the forms will be filed and return to us, with the forms we will give them identification cards.

“The cards will have a code on it so that at any time you will know who your members are.

“We are in the process of doing a good portal where everything will be saved so that it will be easy to know the registered members of NCWS,’’ she said.

Shoda said that the society was undergoing rebranding in line with its constitutional provision.

“NCWS is rebranding now. We are trying to make sure that we are non-political, non-governmental and non-ethnic.

“We try to make sure that the things enshrined in our constitution are adhered to very strictly.

“Our constitution says that we should support the government of the day where ever we are.

“If the government of the day is APC like in Abuja we support because the wife of the president is our grand patron because NCWS is not particular about any political party,’’ she explained. (NAN)
