Minna, Dec. 15, 2016( NAN) Mr Muazu Rijau, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Niger, on Thursday, expressed optimism that the 2017 budget would turn around the fortunes of Nigeria.

Rijau told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna that the task ahead was for Nigerians to support the government and pray God to ensure a successful implementation of the budget.

The politician said that the budget had what it would take to pull Nigeria out of the current economic recession and open the floodgates for developmental activities.

He explained that the budget would provide avenues for job opportunities during the implementation of capital projects.

The party chieftain advised the Federal Government to show political will through adequate implementation of the budget.

Muazu, a former Commissioner for Finance, also called on the Federal Government to provide farm implements and inputs at subsidised rates for farmers to support all- year- round farming.

“The government should put emphasis on agriculture by diversifying the economy to the production of assorted food crops for both local consumption and export,” he said.

According to him,  if the government can give the desired attention to the agricultural sector, there will be food security in the country. (NAN)
