Yola, Dec. 10, 2016 (NAN) Adamawa Police Command has urged members of the public in the state to be more vigilant and security conscious.
The command Police Public Relations Officer, SP Othman Abubakar, said in a statement on Saturday in Yola that the call became necessary in view of the Friday twin blasts in Madagali Market.
Abubakar emphasised the need for the residents of Adamawa to be extra careful and vigilant, particularly in areas of public gatherings like markets, schools, places of worship and entertainment centres.
However, Gov. Muhammadu Bindow of Adamawa has condemned the incident, describing it as a cowardly act.
The governor in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Malam Ahmad Sajoh, sympathised with the people of Madagali, particularly the victims and their loved ones.
The governor directed all the relevant agencies such as health providers and humanitarian organisations to take necessary steps to cater for those affected.
Bindow called for more vigilance and emphasised the need to support security agencies in their efforts to contain the insurgents and restore peace and sanity. (NAN)
