Port Harcourt, Dec. 9, 2016 (NAN) Ondo State indigenes resident in South Africa have urged the governor-elect, Rotimi Akeredolu, to embark on massive rural infrastructural development after his inauguration.
Mr Trust Owoyele, President of Ondo State Union in South Africa, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone that there was a need to fix the state and move it forward.
He called on the governor-elect to reconcile all aggrieved groups and parties to achieve set objectives.
“ We appeal to the governor-elect to build electricity projects in our rural areas.
“ Most rural communities in the state do not have electricity and it is important because electricity attracts development,” he said.
Owoyele, who is also the vice chairman of Gauteng Province chapter of Nigeria Union, South Africa, urged Akeredolu to improve the internally generated revenue of the state.
“ He can achieve this by reviving some projects like Okitipupa Oil Company, Oluwa Glass Company.
“We urge him to invite investors to partner with government to explore the bitumen reserves in the state and facilitate the sea port project.
“ These areas will generate revenue for the state and employ many youths,” he said.
Owoyele urged the governor-elect to select qualified personnel to assist him implement the policy objectives of his administration.
He said that the new administration should work with indigenes of the state in the Diaspora to contribute to the development of the state.
“ Ondo state indigenes in South Africa congratulate our governor-elect.
“ We pray for the success of his administration and we will partner him to move the state forward,’’ Owoyele stated. (NAN)
