Birnin Kebbi, Dec. 2, 2016 (NAN) Malam Usman Matseri, the Executive Director, Kebbi State History and Culture Bureau, has commended the Federal Government for ordering the reintroduction of teaching of history in schools.
Matseri made the commendation on Friday in Birnin Kebbi in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that bringing back history as a teaching subject, especially in secondary schools would broaden the intellectual horizon of the students.
He said that citizens need to be equipped with past occurrences in their immediate environment, the nation and globally.
“Even politics as a human activity starts where history stops, as policy makers and leaders need to refer to historical events before taking decisions,” he said.
He said the state department of history bureau was established when the state was created, “adding our museum was equipped with historical facts and artifacts.’’(NAN)
