Jalingo, Nov. 19, 2016 (NAN) Mr Habila Anderifun, a member representing Ussa Constituency in the Taraba House of Assembly, on Saturday, cautioned residents of the state against rumour mongering.

Anderifun gave the caution in Jalingo while reacting to a rumour that Gov. Darius Ishaku of the state, had directed that payment of allowances and other entitlements to lawmakers should stop.

He said the insinuation that a rift between the governor and the lawmakers had informed the action was just a  figment of imagination of rumour mongers.

“I do not think that is true. The fact that we have not received some of our entitlements does not mean that the state governor has abandoned us.

“We have received some of our entitlements and of course, you know the financial constraints of the state and the country at large.

“The state governor is doing his best; he has assured us that the remaining part of our entitlements would be paid soon.

“I am sure that the governor is denying himself of certain things because of the financial difficulties we are facing, so it is a general problem.

“It is a good thing that the public is aware of the fact that we too are suffering,” the lawmaker said.

He advised the public to desist from such rumour mongering, which he said, could cause panic and mutual suspicion among the people of the state.

Anderifun, who is the only member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the Assembly, said the lawmakers were so far satisfied with their working relationship with the governor. (NAN )
