Enugu, Aug. 21, 2018 (NAN) An Enugu-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abdul Ishola, has called on Muslims to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and love as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
Ishola, the Chief Imam of Islamic Centre, Uwani, Enugu, made the call on Tuesday, while answering questions from newsmen after prayers to commemorate the Eid el-Kabir celebration.
He noted that Prophet Ibrahim showed his deep love and commitment to God by trying to sacrifice his only son, Ishmael, to almighty Allah in obedience to his command.
“Muslim Ummahs (faithful) should know that the act of sacrifice means a lot to life and human existence.
“Sacrifice itself is an act of obedience to almighty Allah, while obedience also means being patient when we are asking and requesting a thing from Allah as Prophet Ibrahim did,’’ he said.
According to him, living a life of sacrifice shows that we are accountable to God and willing to wait for His time in every life issue.
Ishola, who is also the chief missioner of the centre, urged Muslims to use the Eid el-Kabir period to show love and share with all around them.
“We should show love and extend the same love to non-Muslims, especially Christians around us.
“We are also expected to be kind to animals and treat them fairly since they are part of creation of almighty Allah,’’he said.
The cleric called on Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for a successful and violence-free 2019 general elections.
“As patriotic and peace-loving Nigerians, we must conduct ourselves in an orderly and responsible manner before, during and after the elections,’’ he advised. (NAN)
