Security guard docked over alleged theft of values worth N10.25m

Ikeja, Aug. 17, 2018(NAN) A 26-year-old security guard, Mukaila Hamani, was on Friday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing property worth N10.25 million.
Hamani, a resident of Ikoyi, Lagos, was charged with conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
The defendant and others yet to be apprehended allegedly committed the offences on May 27, at 3:00a.m. at Ikoyi, Lagos.
The prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the accused broke into the office of MRS Oil and Gas Ltd and carted away the said valuables.
“The accused scaled the fence to gain access into the office.
“He stole an apple laptop valued at N600,000, an IPhone 7 plus worth N250,000, a wristwatch worth N6.5million, $8,000 (N2.88millon) and N20,000 cash, all totaling N10,250,000,” he said.
Ayorinde said that the burglary and theft were recorded by the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera installed within the premises.
“After the incident, the CCTV camera was played and it was found that the accused was among the culprits.
“He was handed over to the police,” the prosecutor said.
The offences contravened Sections 287, 307 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned further hearing until Sept. 24. (NAN)
