Court orders man to pay N12,000 monthly to ex- wife

Kaduna, Aug 16,2018( NAN) A Sharia Court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna on Thursday ordered one Al-hassan Abdullahi to pay N12,000 monthly as feeding allowance to his former wife, Zainab Shuaibu.
Shuaibu had gone to the court complaining that her husband divorced her two weeks ago with pregnancy and a seven months old baby to cater for.
“He divorced me knowing fully well that I am three months pregnant for him,”, she said and prayed the court to compel her former husband to provide accommodation for her and the baby, including feeding allowance.
Abdullahi, the defendant, who did not contest the plea of the complainant, told the court that he would provide accommodation for the ex-wife and their child, and a N6,000 monthly feeding allowance.
The judge Dahiru Lawal, however, ruled that N6,000 was too meager for the upkeep of the complainant’s pregnancy and baby, and ordered the defendant to pay N12,000 monthly instead.
The judge also ordered the complainant to move in to the accommodation her ex-husband provided. (NAN)
