Agreement

Abuja, Aug. 9 2018 (NAN) Tanzania High Commissioner to Nigeria, Amb Muhidini Mboweto, has called for accelerated conclusion of talks on the pending Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) between that country and Nigeria.
Mboweto, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that he was working to complete agreements on air cooperation between Nigeria and Tanzania to strengthen the trade and economic relations
“There is a plan for direct flight agreement from Tanzania to Nigeria but it has not been concluded.
“I had a discussion with the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the need to conclude those agreements.
“We hope that when it is concluded it will pave room for more business booms between the two countries.
“We don’t get aircraft to fly from Tanzania to Nigeria but of course we use Emirate, Ethiopia airlines among,” he said
According to him, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, John Magufuli, is reviving the nation’s defunct air cooperation.
“I think in the near future we will see Tanzania aircraft flying to Abuja and Lagos. I am optimistic, given the number of tourists that visit,” the envoy said.
He said there is opportunity for Nigerian investors in Tanzania in the Agriculture, tourism, commercial building, transportation and telecommunication sectors, among others.
“We have vast arable land for agriculture. We have rich mineral resources as well. We have gold, diamonds.
“Of course Nigeria and Tanzania enjoy excellent relations,” he said.
He said that Tanzania had many tourist attractions.
“Tanzania has 16 national parks, 29 games reserves, 40 controlled conservation areas and marine parks.
“Tanzania is also home to the famous ‘ Roof of Africa’ Mount Kilimanjaro,” the envoy said.
The envoy thanked Nigeria for the deployment of 41 teachers in the region under the Technical Aid Corps programme.
