PVC

Abuja, Aug. 2, 2018 (NAN) A Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO), Christian Empowerment Forum (CEF), has advised Nigerians not to disenfranchise themselves in the 2019 general elections by not registering and obtaining Permanent Voter Card (PVC).
The Director of the organisation, Mr Ifunnaya Ogbonna, gave the advice on Thursday in Abuja at the flag-off of a two-day market sensitisation on the importance of getting PVCs and participating in elections.
Ogbonna said that the PVC was a `must have’ for every Nigerian, adding that it was important for everyone yet to register to leverage on the 15 days left for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to register.
“The only opportunity you have to get the change you want is now. The registration is closing soon and we are appealing to everyone to be registered before Aug. 17.
“Anyone who does not register or does not collect his PVC has no right to complain about the government.
“Also, anyone who has collected his or her PVC and does not vote during the election has no right to complain,’’ he said.
Ogbonna said that the forum was ready to bear the cost of transporting people from their locations to various centres for registration and PVC collection to ensure that eligible voters possess their cards before the elections.
The voter registration will be suspended on Aug. 17 until after the 2019 general elections, while distribution of cards would continue until one week to the elections. (NAN)
