School proprietor calls for consistency in payment of teachers’ salaries

Ilorin, Aug. 1, 2018 (NAN) Mr Wale Olorunfemi, Proprietor, Excellent Nursery and Primary School, Ilorin, has called on government at all levels to ensure consistency in paying teachers their salaries, to improve the standard of education in Nigeria.
Olorunfemi made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Ilorin.
He stressed the need for consistency in the payment of teachers’ salaries, to rescue the declining standards of education.
He said that teachers needed to be motivated for them to be diligent in delivering quality service.
“Teachers are human beings and not robots that you just programme to work. They need motivation to boost their morale.
“How do you expect someone who has not been paid for a while to show commitment to the job? The output will be zero.
“Our leaders must understand that teachers are not slaves. Their salary must be consistent if really we want to revive the dying education system in the country,” he said.
The proprietor, however, called on government at all levels to prioritise teachers’ welfare for the country to have quality education.
