Omu-Aran (Kwara), July 20, 2018 (NAN) Special Marshals of the Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC), Omu-Aran Unit Command in Kwara, on Friday donated a projector toward ensuring effective communication in the unit.
Mr Adesina Ogundele, Unit Coordinator of the Special Marshals, while presenting the item in Omu-Aran, said that it was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in moving the unit forward.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Special Marshals unit is the external arm of FRSC.
Ogundele said that the donation was also informed by the need to ensure a cordial relationship and synergy between the unit and other relevant transport stakeholders.
He described the regulatory responsibility of FRSC as very critical to national development, saying that it must be well positioned for effective performance.
‘‘We are not unaware of the enormous responsibility of FRSC in ensuring safety on our roads, especially at the grassroots.
‘‘In carrying out this responsibility through seminars, symposium and sensitisation, there is need for an efficient means of disseminating information.
‘‘It is in the light of this that we are donating this token as part of our quota and CSR toward ensuring safety on our highways,’’ he said.
In his remarks, Mr Festus Adetunji, the FRSC Unit Commander, described the gesture as unprecedented in the annals of the unit’s history.
Adetunji said that the donation had helped, in no small measure, to solve one of the critical challenges confronting the unit.
He promised to make judicious use of the item, urging other stakeholders to emulate it.
‘‘This donation is very special to us in this unit, because the item donated is part of what we have been yearning for, for a very long time,’’ Adetunji said. (NAN)
