Abuja, July 19, 2018 (NAN) A Lugbe Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday sentenced a 20-year-old man, Isah Ibrahim, to two months imprisonment for belonging to a gang of thieves.

.
The judge, Mr Abdullahi Garba, however, gave the convict N10,000 option of fine.
He said that the punishment would have been stiffer if the convict had not saved the court the pains of protracted prosecution.
The judge warned the convict to shun crime and be a good citizen, adding that the sentence would serve as a deterrent to other would-be offenders.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mrs Ukoha Ndidi, had told the court that the defendant committed offence on June 5, at the University of Abuja.
Ndidi said that the convict and one Onwe Ifeaniye of the same address, now at large, criminally went into the university and collected people’s cell phones.
The prosecutor said that in the process the defendant was apprehended and handed over to the police at Iddo Police Station, while Ifeaniye escaped.
Ndidi said that the convict admitted committing the offence which contravened Section 306 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
