Ile-Ife (Osun), July 17, 2018 (NAN) A 30-year-old man, Femi Oladejo, was on Tuesday brought before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun over alleged theft of cocoa pods.
Oladejo is facing a two-count charge of forceful entrance and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 9, 2018 around 2.00p.m. at Sadeoba Village via Gbafari Town, Ile-Ife.
Abdullahi said that the accused forcibly entered into the land of Odeyemi Muritala and stole his cocoa pods valued at N50, 000.
According to him, the offence contravened Sections 81, 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Lere Alayinde, applied for the bail of his client in most liberal term, promising that he would not jump bail.
Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode granted the accused bail of N50, 000 with a surety in like sum.
Ijiyode said that the surety must swear to an affidavit of means and reside within the court jurisdiction.
He said that the surety’s address must be verified and provide two passport photographs.
The case was adjourned until Aug. 8 for hearing. (NAN)
