Lagos, July 12, 2018 (NAN) The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday warned members and supporters against acts of violence before and during the 2019 general elections.

The Chairman of the party in the state, Mr Moshood Salvador, gave the warning while speaking at the party’s rally in Amuwo-Odofin area of the state.

He said the party’s goal of capturing the state in 2019 would be undermined if members and supporters engaged in acts of violence.

Salvador urged members to be peaceful at all times, saying peace and hard work were needed to win in 2019.

“I want all our members and supporters to adhere to peaceful conduct always.

“We don’t want violence at any level. If we allow violence, we can lose all the votes.

“We must embrace peace in whatever we aim to do. We must show that PDP is for peace.

“Lagosians love our party and we should do things that will make them to love us to win the state,” he said.

Salvador also urged all party leaders to ensure that supporters maintained peace at all times in their respective areas.

Meanwhile, he called on members to mobilise others to obtain Permanent Voter Cards to enable them to vote in the elections.

He also urged members to obtain their membership cards, as that would show they truly belonged to the PDP.

According to him, the coming of the new national leadership of the party has instilled discipline and ended the culture of impunity in the party.

He said he would continue to invest his time and money in the party to ensure it attained greater heights.

“I will not collect kobo from any aspirant or member. Rather, I will spend my money for the party.

“The progress of the party is what I care about and I will continue to do my best for the party,” he said.

Salvador said that should the party win Lagos, all aspirants, whether they lost or not, would be accommodated in government.

A member of the House of Representatives, representing Amuwo-Odofin, Mr Ogene Egoh, also urged members to work with unity of purpose.

He advised them to work assiduously for the common goal of defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Egoh said the party was ensuring all members bury their differences for success in 2019.

NAN reports that the atmosphere at the rally was carnival-like as party members danced to music provided by a Disc Jockey.

Some aspirants also stormed the venue with their supporters. (NAN)
