Benin, July 10, 2018 (NAN) A middle-aged man, Tochukwu Ugbodo, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Oredo Magistrates’ Court in Benin for allegedly stealing Infinix cellphone, valued at N40,000.
The prosecutor, Insp. M.S Shaibu, told the court that the accuse committed the offence on June 12, at Upper Lawani street in Benin City, Oredo Local Government Area of the Edo.
According to the prosecutor, the phone is the property of one Esther Ehigiator.
However, the accused who was arraigned on two-count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor said that the offence was punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 48 Vol II Laws of the defunct Bendel State now applicable to Edo State.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs V.E Oyekpen, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 and a surety in like sum who, he ordered, must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
She adjourned the case to Aug.8, for hearing.(NAN)
