Ikeja, July 5, 2018 (NAN) A 38-year-old driver, Sunday Olagoke, on Thursday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court
charged with stealing his employer’s N278,000.
A resident of Ijegun area of Lagos, Olagoke, is facing a charge of stealing.
According to the Police Prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, the accused committed the offence on June 26, at Ogba in Ikeja area.
The accused allegedly stole drinks valued at N278,000, property of Milumon Nigeria Ltd.
Ayorinde told the court that the company asked the accused to deliver a truck loaded with goods to some customers.
“The complainant sent the accused to supply Guinness products to its customers.
“The accused sold some of the drinks to an illegal customer and converted the money to his own.
“He was handed over to the police for interrogation,” the prosecutor said.
The offence violated Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the offence carries seven years imprisonment.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties.
The Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, who gave the ruling, said the sureties should be gainfully employed with an evidence of
two years tax payment.
Further hearing has been adjourned until July 25. (NAN)
