Lagos, June 25, 2018 (NAN) A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday sentenced one Tajudeen Rabiu, to six months imprisonment for trafficking 300g of Cannabis Sativa, popularly known as hemp.

Rabiu, 42, was brought to court by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and charged before Justice Ibrahim Buba on a count charge of trafficking hemp.

He pleaded guilty to the charge.

After his plea was taken, the facts of the case was reviewed by the Prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan, who tendered the following exhibits:

A certificate of test analysis, packaging of substance form, the bulk of drug exhibit, a request for scientific aid form and the statement of the convict taken in English language.

Aernan also tendered a drug analysis form and a large sealed envelope containing remnants of the restricted substance.

The court admitted the exhibits and marked them accordingly.

The prosecutor then urged the court to convict the accused, based on his plea and the evidences adduced.

In its verdict, the court found the accused guilty of the offence as charged.

Buba, accordingly, convicted and sentenced Rabiu to six months imprisonment beginning from the date of his arrest.

According to the charge, the NDLEA said that the convict was arrested on March 23 at Kirikiri Road in Apapa, Lagos.
