Lagos, June 22, 2018 (NAN) Idris Mohammed, a 28-year-old man, who allegedly stole two motorcycles valued at N370,000,
on Friday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused stole the two motorcycles that were parked at different places, according to the prosecution.
Mohammed, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on a charge of stealing.
According to Police Prosecutor Victor Eruada, the accused committed the offence on June 1 at No. 16, Awori St., Dopemu,
Agege, Lagos.
The motorcycles, one of which was unregistered, valued at N170,000 and N200,000 respectively, property of Mr Faruk Sule
and Abubakar Musa, the complainants.
“Sule caught Mohammed while he was trying to escape with the motorcycle and handed him over to the police.”
The offences contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail by the Chief Magistrate, Mrs M. I. Dan-Oni, in the sum
of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties must be gainfully employed with an evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until July 9. (NAN)
