Kaduna, June 11, 2018 (NAN) The Public Complaint Commission (PCC) will fully engage the media to raise awareness on the opportunity it offers citizens to access justice, Musa Tugga-Karam, PCC Commissioner in Kaduna State, said on Monday.

Tugga-Karam said in Kaduna at the send forth organised for the out going Commissioner, Muhammed-Bello Maude, that the commission has a mandate to intervene in cases affecting citizens for settlement without recourse to the courts.

He said that the recent shift of the commission from executive to legislature control would translate into sustained funding, efficiency and higher productivity.

The PCC commissioner lamented that the organisation had been in limbo for 13 years without commissioners till 2012, but said recent events have indicated that the “sleeping giant ” would roar back to life.

Tugga-Karam noted that funding had been a major constraint inhibiting the workings of the commission, but said with the new shift in control, workers were hoping for a new beginning.

” With the Senate President’s promise to give more fund to the commission, I am optimistic that the commission will rise higher and do more in achieving justice to humanity,” he said.

The commissioner also urged staff of the commission to be committed to their work as they were serving humanity which was rewarding.

Meanwhile, the outgoing commissioner, had commended workers at the Kaduna state office for the achievements recorded despite numerous the challenges .

“The commission needed enough fund to recover from the thirteen years stagnation it suffered, but unfortunately there wasn’t enough fund.

” Even with the challenges being faced by the commission, the Kaduna state office had been receiving accolades from our headquarters as it can’t be compared to other northern state,” he said.

Maude urged the staff to always exhibit highest sense of discipline as ombudsmen and support the new commissioner to ensure more successes. (NAN)
