Lagos , June 7, 2018(NAN) A 48- year -old man, Adetunji Adewunmi, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly obtaining N900,000 under false pretense.
The accused, an aluminum fabricator, who resides at Aboru area, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of obtaining by false pretense and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu told the court that the offences were committed on Feb. 20 at Block 36, Genesis Estate, Aboru, Lagos.
Ogu said that the accused collected N900,000 from the complainant, Mrs Abiola Alabi to supply aluminum windows to a construction site, but disappeared after collecting the money.
“The accused was no where to be found and all efforts to locate him failed until he was sighted by the complainant in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos.”
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 280 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate , Mr J. A Adegun, granted the accused bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adegun adjourned the case until June 14, for mention. (NAN)
