Lagos, June 5, 2018 (NAN) An entrepreneur, Ms Modupe Darabidan, has advised women and girls to empower themselves with training in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to add value to their lives.
Darabidan, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of iStarter Hub Ltd., gave the advice at an ICT workshop in Lagos.
“Women should realise that constant watching of television soaps will not give them what they want in life.
“Empowering themselves will make them better and make them to impact positively on their families and communities.
“The benefit of a woman being empowered is the value it will add to her life and community, because when you empower a woman, you empower a community,” she said.
She urged the participants to be determined to succeed through the training.
Darabidan said that the workshop with the theme: ”Empower Her”, was being done by iStarter in conjunction with the Amuwo Odofin LGA of Lagos State.
She said that the workshop, the second phase, was aimed at training 30 women on technological 1ools to aid their businesses.
According to her, the women who participated in the first phase of the workshop were trained on how to use Facebook so they could leverage on it to market their products,” she said.
The Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA, Mr Valentine Buraimoh, said that empowering people would promote peace and order.
The chairman, represented by Ms Feyisope Idowu, Deputy Leader of council’s legislative arm, said: “The duty of the executive arm of the local government is to ensure that the community is in order.
“The only way to make this happen is to ensure that members of the community are empowered.
“Empowering them will enable them to do things on their own,” he said.
Buraimoh advised the participants to take advantage of the free workshop to improve their lives. (NAN)
