Abuja, May 29, 2018 (NAN) The National Council of Women’s Societies (NCWS) on Tuesday called on Nigerians to continue to work together to ensure a united and strong democratic country.

Mrs Gloria Shoda, President of NCWS, in a statement in Abuja, congratulated the generality of Nigerians for another successful Democracy Day.

Shoda urged Nigerians to continue to have faith and belief that Nigeria would flourish and thrive as a vibrant nation.

According to her, in spite of some unpleasant incidents that have ravaged the country in recent times, Nigerians are strong and resilient people.

“Although in some parts of the country, especially the Middle Belt, there have been difficult and sad periods; we should stay optimistic and committed toward continuing to build a better, stronger and greater nation.

“Nigerians have sacrificed greatly to attain democracy and we should never forget the fallen heroes, who paid the supreme price for the rest of us.

“Hence, we should continue to strive towards remaining as one people, who strongly believe and will uphold the tenets of democracy.

“Through our patriotic actions, we must continue to seek ways to entrench democratic values in our communities,” she said.

The President of NCWS also implored Nigerian women to continue to support and uphold their homes and local communities which in their own right, serve as cradles for nurturing and raising coming generations.

“I will like to also appeal to our women across the country to encourage their husbands to remain industrious and progressive in their endeavours and continue to embrace all the values that make up a democratic society,” she said.

She also called on the youth to remain steadfast in their hope for what our country has to offer them.

Shoda prayed that Nigeria’s youth demographic strength would ultimately become a dividend for the benefit of the country as God has created them to be.

The NCWS president urged the youths to stay focused and dream big for what they would eventually achieve as young Nigerians.(NAN)
