N-Power, NDE train 96 youths on construction skills in Kaduna

Kaduna, May 23, 2018 (NAN) A total of 96 youths in Kaduna State are undergoing training on construction skills under the Federal Government Social Intervention Programme, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

NAN reports that the training, being run by N-Power in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), is under the N-Build category of the social intervention scheme.

Sani Maiwada, the acting state coordinator of NDE told NAN on Wednesday in Kaduna that the training was on construction skills including plumbing, carpentry, welding and metal fabrication.

Maiwada said that the training began on March 1, with 48 participants undergoing training at the NDE Skills Center in Zaria, while the remaining are being trained in Kaduna.

He explained that at the end of the three months training the beneficiaries would be posted to different construction sites to gain practical experience.

He said that, “When they finish by May 31, they will be posted to construction sites for nine months attachment to get on the job training.”

He commended N-Power for providing all the necessary tools and materials that would help the trainees learn better.

“N-Power has provided all their working tools and money is being sent to center managers to buy consumables and other materials for practicals,’’ he said.

He advised youths to embrace entrepreneurial skills that would help them earn decent living and be employers of labour. (NAN)
