Police arraign applicant over alleged theft

Abuja, May 22, 2018 (NAN) The Police on Tuesday arraigned an applicant, Gal Alabi, in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing property valued at N151,000.
Alabi, 29, a resident of Agura junction Karmo, Abuja, was docked on a two-count charge of Joint act and theft.
The prosecutor, Mrs Okagha Ijeoma, told the court that one Ibe Amogu of Agura Staff Quarters Karmo, reported the matter at the Karmo Police Station on May15.
Ijeoma said that the defendant and one Helen Samuel, an ex-convict now at large, on the same date, at about 6: 30 a.m. criminally trespassed into the complainant’s kitchen.
She said that the defendant allegedly stole the complainant’s big tiger generator valued at N31, 000, and two air conditions valued at N120, 000.
Ijeoma said all effort made to recover the property proved abortive.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 79, 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The judge, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000, with a surety in like sum and adjourned the matter until July 7 for hearing. (NAN)
