Teenage boy remanded in Correctional Home over alleged theft of motorcycle

Lagos, May 18, 2018 (NAN) An Ebute meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday remanded a 15-year-old boy at the Oregun Special Correctional Centre for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. Ipaye-Nwachukwu, who gave the ruling, said a social worker would be asked to carry out more investigations into the case and adjourned until July 2 for possible sentence.
The boy, whose address is unknown, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Insp. Chinalu Uwadione told the court that the boy committed the offences on May 14 at No. 7, Aloba St., Costain Roundabout, Iganmu.
He said the boy, who had ran away from his home town in Kwara, stole the motorcycle with registration no. APP 349 QJ valued at N110, 000, property of Mr Abubakar Abdullahi.
He alleged that the owner had packed the motorcycle outside the mosque to observe his prayers when the boy stole it.
The offences violated Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
