Yenagoa, May 10, 2018 (NAN) The Bayelsa Government has warned youths in the state against cult activities and other forms of crimes.
The Chief of Staff to Gov. Seriake Dickson, Mr Talford Ongolo, gave the warning in Yenagoa during the 2018 Anti-cultism rally, organised by the Boys Brigade of Nigeria on Thursday.
Ongolo also reminded the youths of the anti-cultism law recently signed by the Governor.
He said the anti-cultism law stipulated a 20-year imprisonment for violators .
According to him, Gov. Dickson has initiated various measures aimed at curbing violence and other criminal acts.
He also highlighted the dangers associated with cult activities to include untimely death and unfulfilled destiny, advising the youth to focus on their education.
The President of Boys Brigade of Nigeria, Bayelsa council, Mr Doutimi Egbegi, listed some of the effects of cult membership to include premature death, drug abuse and addiction.
Egbegi promised that the brigade would continue to support the State Government in the fight against cult activities and other societal ills. (NAN)
